BOGUS GALLERY

1511 Guilford Ave.
Bogus Gallery presents the next exhibition in our gallery program and opening reception: "Chimera in the Grass" curated by resident artist and curator @isabel.pardo.art

Chimera in the Grass presents the work of three artists utilizing a zoomorphic lexicon to explore their transmasculine identities. In their paintings, Jack Novosel, Jules Sease, and Lo Younge deftly compose intimate stories with their chosen animal symbols, examining their respective relationships to the world through creatures caught between wildness and domesticity.

FULL CIRCLE FINE ART

33 E 21st Street
"Never Forget… We are Humans” is a photo collection, originally exhibited in 2015 following the death of Freddie Gray, & titled, "The Baltimore Civil Protest & Demonstration Photo Collection”. Over 800 images were printed as large sheets of 44” wide paper for 6 weeks or more following the initial week of outrage. Dozens of photographers from all over Baltimore sent images for this project. In revisiting the photographs, we want to remember those moments and the conversations, the faces, the tragedy and the fragile, humanistic image of our city during those tumultuous times. We also want to consider what is different or has remained the same.

HANCOCK SOLAR GALLERY

20 E. Lanvale St, open 6-9PM
Presenting the work of two Baltimore photographers, Irena Stein & Jenee Mateer in this new exhibition, ALCHEMY.

Alchemy is a historical practice that encompassed aspects of science, philosophy, and spiritual pursuits. It involved attempts to understand and manipulate matter, and when I saw Irena's work and Jenee's body of work separately, I could see the underlying connection and common theme between them. When looking at the works they emminate the play of texture, light, and shadow, albeit, Stein's works feel reminiscent of more realistic baroque still life paintings while Mateer's from a distance give the feeling of abstraction. Upon closer inspection, we can make out identifying shapes of vegetation, flower petals, citrus peels, and other materials from her compost beds; these are layered photographs that suggest the energy of decomposition beneath the surface.

Additional gallery hours are from 2-6pm or by appointment. Ring the gallery on the call box for entry.

NIGHT OWL GALLERY

1735 Maryland Ave, Upstairs Unit A
At Night Owl Gallery, we are committed to showcasing artists whose work challenges, celebrates, and reimagines the world around us. As part of our mission to uplift historically underrepresented voices—especially those within the LGBTQIA+ community—it’s an honor to present “Repeat After Me” by David Ayala and “Held in Color” by Yamah, two simultaneous solo exhibitions opening during Pride Month!

Together, these two exhibitions explore the intersection of identity, care, queerness, and aesthetics in very different—but deeply complementary—ways.

In “Held in Color,” Yamah’s fiber-based works bring softness to the forefront as both an aesthetic and political statement. Using punch needle embroidery, natural dyeing, and hand-sewn techniques, Yamah’s creations blur the line between function and art. Their vibrant color palettes and bold textures celebrate the beauty in everyday rituals, centering tenderness, queerness, and visibility through tactile engagement.

In “Repeat After Me,” David Ayala’s rich, sensual paintings explore the tension between Christian iconography, queer desire, and historical representation. Through traditional oil painting layered with unexpected materials like nail polish, glitter, and glass beads, Ayala transforms familiar imagery into shimmering, subversive works of resistance and reclamation. Their practice probes the space where reverence meets radical reimagining.
